Daniel S. McPhillips- Managing Principal
Dan provides a variety of services to both tenant and landlord clients.  While based in the Raleigh, NC area, he has experience in many regions around the country, with recent focus in Raleigh, Dallas, Florida, Eastern Tennessee, and greater DC metropolitan area.  

Daniel McPhillips has over 15 years of experience in the commercial real estate industry.  He has worked with private and institutional owners to provide leasing and sales services for all types of commercial real estate, as well as development of suburban and urban retail properties.  

Dan has been in the industry since 1993 and has worked on office deals ranging across the board of Class A, B and C buildings, as well as flex, warehouse and industrial. Dan's retail experiences range from national and regional grocery anchors, big box and jr. anchor tenants to national, regional and local shop tenants. He has successfully completed over 600 leasing transactions and over $300 million in sales transactions.

Dan is an active member of the International Council of Shopping Centers and the Triangle Commercial Association of Realtors.


Shellie M. Davis- Director of Asset & Property Management/Partner
Ms. Davis is responsible for delivering the platform for Asset and Property Management services.  She has extensive experience with complex properties from inception of major development to delivering consistent investor returns. 
 

 Prior to joining M1 Commercial as an Asset Manager, Ms. Davis held the position of Director of Asset Management with Gemini Real Estate, implementing and building the Asset and Property Management profit centers to manage and lease retail properties from Texas to and throughout the East Coast of the United States.  She also served as Vice President of Property Management and Leasing with Levine Properties.          

Shellie began her real estate career at Trammell Crow Company.  During her eight year Tenure, she held Property Management positions managing key customer accounts including, Prudential, Cabot Partners, Equitable Life Assurance, Lend Lease, Glenborough, AMB, RREEF, Crow Family Holdings, and Harbert Realty.  Her brokerage, leasing and development activities include land acquisitions of which encompassed site and financial analysis, due diligence, and marketing analysis which resulted in $20M office project, a participating member of the project development team for the 27 story high-rise tower, the IJL Financial Center, in uptown Charlotte, North Carolina and other Tenant Representation transactions.   She also facilitated the start up of an internal commercial property service company then becoming an additional profit center within Trammell Crow Company.

She received her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of North Carolina.  She has earned the CCIM, CPM and RPA designations.  She is a member of International Council of Shopping Centers, the CCIM Institute, the Institute of Real Estate Management, and, Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA).  Ms. Davis holds real estate brokerage licenses in both North Carolina and Florida and a Class A Certified General Contractors License in the State of Florida. 

 
Peter H. Lunding- Counsel, Broker, Development Partner
Mr. Lunding serves as In-house counsel and legal advisor.  Peter began his legal career with the Harmsen, Carpenter, Sidell & Olson law firm in California, practicing in the areas of real estate development and real estate financing.  He then worked as an in-house Acquisitions Representative for Castor Properties that expanded to the east coast, bringing him to North Carolina.  Peter also has extensive experience in Federal Government contracts and worked as a Senior Real Estate Specialist for GSA in Washington, DC on various special projects and several Portfolio leases requiring Congressional approval.  In his twenty years practicing law, Peter has represented numerous developers and contractors, as well as Trust Company of the West, Coldwell Banker, and Bank of America.  He is a graduate of Hastings College of the Law.

Claudia Villanueva- Broker, Marketing, Director of Operations
Claudia Villanueva joined M1 Commercial in 2006 as Marketing Director and soon grew into Operations. Focusing on office and retail assets, Ms. Villanueva is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of a diverse portfolio of office and retail properties.  She prepares monthly financial and operational reports, conducts annual operating expense reconciliations and administers lease documents and contract services.  Equally important, Claudia works to improve overall client and tenant satisfaction with prompt responses to their concerns.  

Rounding out her comprehensive capabilities, she also manages and participates in developing marketing programs and leasing strategies for both landlord and tenant representations.
Claudia is an active member of the International Council of Shopping Centers.    

Andrew Bernstein - Director of Finance

As Director of Finance, Andrew Bernstein is responsible for all of the firm’s financial concerns, from accounting and tax evaluation to capitalization, funding, valuation, risk analysis and loss mitigation.  He is also responsible for the firm’s commercial real estate loans and properties capital markets group creating and executing real estate capital market solutions.  Mr. Bernstein has utilized his talent to purchase, manage, and guide real estate investments for individuals and investment groups in both commercial and residential markets in Florida, California, and New York.

Mr. Bernstein started Interstar Investments and Lending to focus on Real Estate, Private Equity, Venture Capital, and Asset Lending as a vehicle to provide alternative funding solutions to clients.  This alternative approach has been incorporated into the BASE 26 system to provide unique financial evaluation and solutions.  From Tax strategy and strategic planning, to asset allocation, economic impact, due diligence, capital structure and valuation, Mr. Bernstein’s tutelage has fostered numerous growth opportunities and his insight has proven invaluable to clients.

Mr. Bernstein’s clients include Home Depot, CBS, Time Inc., General Mills, HT Hackney, and others.  Mr. Bernstein has rescued businesses and investors from chaos and potential collapse and currently assists clients by devising strategic plans to address economic conditions and integrate changes in our capital markets in order to maintain on-going operations, obtain capital, and maintain proper liquidity positions. 

Mr. Bernstein received his graduate degree from the University of South Florida obtaining an MBA in Finance and Economics.  He also earned a Bachelors degree from Bowling Green State University in Broadcast Communications and Marketing.   He holds a personal Florida Mortgage Broker license and a business Florida Mortgage Lender License.
